Warner Brothers is gearing up for a live-action Mortal Kombat web series in conjunction with the new Mortal Kombat game. The series will delve into the histories of the fighters in the game giving some insight on their motivation for entering the tournament. The series is being helmed by Kevin Tancharoen (Fame) who also directed that popular Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short that created quite an internet buzz a few months back. Casting has not been officially announced yet but it is rumored that Michael Jai White will reprise his roll as Jax Briggs. Both the series and game are slated for a Spring 2011 release.
